Chelsea got off to a stronger start than Juventus on Wednesday match against Juventus, their early passing was fluid and precise, especially down the left side, where Marcos Alonso and Hakim Ziyech were causing all kinds of difficulties for Danilo.
The blues were looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against ManCity but the only thing bouncing was Tuchel on the sidelines as on the pitch, very little was happening in terms of results— outside of maybe the one moment of quality 11 seconds into the second half that got Juventus the game’s only goal.
Thomas Tuchel’s side struggled to break down the Juventus defence and the German coach was disappointed with the goal his team conceded.
“It’s impossible at this level to concede a goal like this. We know what’s coming, we got punished for it,” the German manager said after the match.
“We started not sharp enough, the first 10-15 minutes should’ve been much more sharp, put more dangerous balls into the box.
“We had two crucial ball losses where we almost gave goals away. We struggled to create our own rhythm as they were so deep.
“We were not good enough, slow, tired, mentally slow with decision making, it’s a strange one to analyse.”
Chelsea have now suffered back-to-back defeats following their 1-0 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League over the weekend.
