MANU 0 WHM 1: Six Players Ole Selected That Should Be Blamed As The Devil’s Crashes Out Of EFL.

Manchester United suffered a disappointing  defeat as the devil were kicked out of the Carabao Cup after losing 1-0 to opponent Westham United Wednesday night.

An early goal from Manuel Lanzini in the 9th minute was enough to secure the result for David Moyes over his former club. This victory will taste sweet in the mouth of the West Ham United players after they lost cruelly to the same opposition at the weekend.Manchester United were strong favorites coming into this match but their defeat was as a result of their own undoing. There were 6 players selected by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who performed below par and should be taking the full blame for the terrible result.

1. Jadon SanchoThe English winger has struggled to settle in since his 73 million pounds move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. Once again, he produced a terrible display on the night as he killed his team’s attack on so many occasions. His continuous attempt to try out some strange moves were not understood by his teammates and it ultimately led to a shock defeat to a side they were expected to beat.

2. Anthony Martial
The French forward displayed exactly why he has fallen out of favor in the first team. He was totally anonymous throughout the match and made zero impact on the game to help his team against West Ham.

3. Donny Van De BeekVan De Beek was another fringe player who was given a chance to impress in the league cup game but he was woeful once again. The Dutch midfielder was deployed in a deeper role for this game and he showed no cohesion with Matic beside him. Even when he ventured forward, his decision making in the final third was not good enough and it contributed to the bad result for the Red Devils.

4. Jesse LingardLingard scored the winner in the encounter at the weekend but failed to inspire his team this time around against his former side. The English winger saw a lot of the ball but he could not do anything creative with it and his finishing was also off on the night.

Juan Mata & Nemanja Matic
Captain of the night – Nemanja Matic and Spanish veteran – Juan Mata, were the two most senior players on the pitch for United but they failed to make use of their experience to motivate their team after going down to an early goal. Matic gave a good shift in midfield but his leadership qualities were lacking. Mata on the other hand did not create much in attack for the team and he was quiet throughout the game until he was taken off in the second half. The 2021/22 EFL Cup will continue without the presence of Manchester United and the fourth round fixtures have already been settled.
