Tuchel In Doubt Of Four Key Players Against West Ham On Saturday

Chelsea limped over the line in their fortuitous 2-1 win on the road against Watford on Wednesday evening in what was their 10th Premier League victory of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

The Blues are on a good run of form but the squad depth has been tested to its limits recently – as shown in the Watford game with the line-up and performance itself.

Thomas Tuchel said in his post-Hornets press conference: “Very sloppy and it was a very unusual performance for us. Like I said, I had the feeling we were not ready. Not only maybe, I am involved in that, I have to get the team ready, I didn’t prepare them for what was coming because it was the first time we completely underperformed as a team.

“We didn’t win first balls, second balls, we did not cope well with the pressure. It is one thing to win or lose challenges but we did not even find them.

“We had the chance to speak about it in the break and then the chance again at half-time and tried to give easy messages because it was obvious that we struggled in the build up and skilful solutions.”

Injuries to the likes of N’Golo Kante, Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah and Mateo Kovacic, coupled with the recent fitness doubts ahead of Watford regarding Reece James, Jorginho and Timo Werner, have added some uncertainty ahead of the West Ham London derby clash on Saturday lunchtime.
